Good, just overpriced

I bought this at my college and used this book for my class.

As for the merits of this book, I think it is well organized in the way it introduces the grammar to students, setting examples and when it should generally be used. It has dialogues so that we can practice that sound real and amazing tables for grammar rules.

My criticism of this book would be the little change from the previous edition, it should have more cultural and historical information so that it feels more like a language class textbook instead of a grammar book, and that stylistically it is not pleasing to the eye.

I find it better than other books in the sense that it goes more in depth and it would therefore be better for those who are serious about Russian

Textbook publishers routinely churn out newer editions of textbooks with minor revisions that prohibit realistically using a used book for classes. This is no exception. It's a good book, but I wish it were cheaper.

Looks great!

It's the 3.5 Monster Manual but better. Cover looks fantastic and is of the highest quality. My only issue with the book is that it's so pretty I don't want to take it with me to gaming sessions for fear of it getting ruined.

Premum Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 Monster Manual (w/ Errata) Review

The quality of the book is superb, and it does include a lot of the errata that is advertised. As other buyers have pointed out, however, it does not include *all* of the errata that is promised. In addition, I have noticed a few typos that could have been corrected before Wizards of the Coast sent the manuscripts to print. All in all, however, I am extremely pleased with my purchase and I fully intend to purchase another copy or two for my players to paw through while I keep my "DM" set carefully preserved.

ISBN = 978-0-7869-6144-0 320 pages

This is often called "Core Rulebook 3 v.3.5". Within its pages are the closest thing to perfection that the 3.5 rulebooks have ever had. In this Premium edition, all errata has been removed, if possible, and entries have been slightly altered to make rulings clearer.

There are seven major chapters in this volume:
1) Monsters A to Z
2) Animals
3) Vermin
4) Improving Monsters
5) Making Monsters
6) Monster Skills and Feats
7) Glossary

I'm not going to bore you with long descriptions of the chapters. But I will say that the Premium volume, with its semi-metallic cover, really stands out in my bookcases. The art is great, as usual for WotC, and is rarely out of place. The basics of what might be called "the ultimate D&D" are all included. In the back of the book are two pages of Monsters sorted by Challenge Rating. There is a really good Table of Contents, making it vary easy to find the creature you want.

Folks, if you play =any= 3.5 or D20 game, you should have a copy of this book. The Monster Manual contains the stats for all of the basic monsters - from the Aboleth to Zombies. Don't forget that things like cats and dogs are considered 'animals' and not monsters, and things like ants are considered 'vermin'. If you're a GM, you gotta love the monster creating chapters. Highly recommended.

Fabrizio Caldarelli

Fabrizio Caldarelli is an Italian programmer who started his professional career in his youth by programming with desktop-oriented languages, the first being Visual Basic. From the year 2000 onward, he spent 5 years developing software to manage radio broadcasts. During that period, he studied C#.NET to make porting of all software versus this new platform. During the same period, he learned web programming, HTML, and ASP, and in 2003, he began to develop software using PHP as the default programming language for web pages. During those years, he collaborated as a teacher for PHP programming courses with http://www.html.it/, an important online reference for developers in Italy. In 2008, he added new skills to his experience by starting to develop mobile projects for Nokia devices with Symbian C++, and a few years later, he started working on projects for iOS, Android, and naturally Windows phone. After many PHP-based web projects, in late 2012, he moved on to the Yii framework as his primary framework for developing web applications. Since then, he has built many important projects based on Yii 1 and later on Yii 2, day by day discovering the powerful improvement that Yii provides to getting work done. Now he lives in Sacrofano, a small town near Rome, with his wife, Serena.

Don't waste your time on this sloppy book!

The technical reviewers of this book must've been half-asleep or drinking/smoking something!

I worked my way through the first couple chapters by correcting code typos, omissions and outright bugs that weren't too difficult to fix, but Chapter 3 - Custom URL Rules was a different matter completely.

The author's code shown in the book did not work, so I checked it against his /config/web.php code example in the download files and they aren't even close! For one thing the download code uses folder names that aren't even discussed in the book. But even if you use the download code, you get nothing but errors. The error messages reference classes deep into the framework, which are beyond a Yii2 novice's ability to debug in a reasonable length of time - even a "novice" like myself with 20 years of PHP experience.

It takes enough effort to learn a new language/framework from a book that is well-written. Don't waste your time on this sloppy book.

Really useful for Yii2 beginners and intermediates alike.

I was one of the technical reviewers on this book, and have thus read the book thoroughly from start to end.

The book requires a working knowledge of PHP and associated technologies, but as long as you have that, you are bound to find the book useful. Whether you're just starting out with Yii2 or you've been playing around with it a bit, Yii2 By Example contains a lot of useful information.

While a user with some experience in Yii2 development may not benefit a lot from the first few sections, in which everything is set up and explained, the book quickly becomes useful as it dives deeper, while still explaining things in an easy-to-understand manner.

Of particular interest to those who are interested in developing more advanced Yii2 applications are the chapters that pertains to the advanced application template, such as the separation of frontend and backend with a common layer for models and configs, the development of a REST API, and of course creation of console commands that can be used in cronjobs or for maintenance tasks.

One of the things I love about the 'By Example' series of books from Packt Publishing, is the way a lot of subjects are covered from multiple angles when possible. A good example of this, in Yii2 By Example, would be the access control sections, where multiple methods are shown and explained.

John Hewitt has provided us with a very well-written scientific book on proteinuria as it relates to diabetes, renal failure and obesity. Although I am a Registered Nurse and have learned about proteinuria in my college education, there is always more to learn. This book provided me with new information that I can use in both my personal life and professional practice. I often see new nurses fumble with a good understanding of the the renal system and kidney disease. This book can serve as a great reference and refresher to what they learned in school.

I also use this book as a reference for some of my patients that have proteinuria. It is a great educational tool. Thank you again for such a well-written and informative book.
