A Wonderful Resource

The book was much more than I expected. Wonderful color photos, and great shows of history. The imagery from the descriptions helps understand the eras being covered.

Very few write about arcades in the early 19th century, and The author fills in multiple holes. Imagining an arcade with real guns, fat ladies, and dispensing machines grabs my imagination. Seeing how the machines began, and moved forward is a fascinating look at history.

Must Have for Resonance

I did not understand resonance structures at all using other textbooks. After reading this book. I feel like I am a master. I wished all college textbooks were at the caliber of this tiny little book. Klein is an excellent teacher. He gives the straight facts in a way that makes perfect sense and doesn't bore you to death. Understanding resonance is, I think, one of the most important aspects of organic, and you're doomed if you don't. Beware, this book does not replace your textbook or instructor. All of the important equations such as alcohol, alkyne, and ketone synthesis are no where to be found in this book. This book really gives you the fundamentals that you need to understand orgo. That reason alone is enough to get it.

GET THIS BOOK! I'm a current pre-med student at Columbia University and i wanted a book to help me prep for my upcoming Orgo class. Though I haven't finished this book, I can honestly say it is fabulous! I had to stop reading to come and write this review. Klein def. knows his stuff. He breaks it down into PLAIN ENGLISH! And for a student like me who hates the terminology of expensive text books, this is much needed relief. Its like he's talking to directly to you. You almost expect him to call, when you're done with the book, to congratulate and wish you luck in the future. There are many examples, some simple, others tricky and a bit advanced. I truly believe that you (and I) will go into any Organic Chem class and feel very secure about the material. Do yourself a favor and get this book. It concise, compact, and an easy read...A recommended book for you to take while your on that summer vacation!

Get it right meow!

Great book. Organic chemistry is HARD, lots of challenging topics and the class moves very fast.... this book is a lifesaver, I wish I'd gotten it at the beginning of the semester instead of the end when I was trying to review for a final exam. Seriously, it takes all the mumbo-jumbo from your standard textbooks (I had 3) and breaks it down to logical, simple parts. Get it, and save yourself the pain that I experienced! You could not find a more clearly written, straightforward book. Good for review, and to complement your textbook. In fact it should replace your textbook, but no professor is gonna go for that.... How are they going to sound smart, if you understand everything they say??

The only conjugation guide you will ever need

Smaller AND much more extensive than just about every other French "verb" book on the market, this tiny volume is the ultimate conjugation cheat-sheet. The verbs are broken down into all their separate conjugation groups (because, hint: most "irregular" French verbs aren't that irregular), and every single verb form is given. There are no bells and whistles here, no "bonus" sections or anything like that - just a really excellent book on French verb conjugation. You won't ever regret getting this.

This book is better than Barron's 501 French Verbs. Flip to the back of the book to look up which verb you want to conjugate and it will give you the page of the example verb. Flip to the page, follow the pattern and you are good to go! Great for intermediate french, or beginners who are serious about continuing french in later years - much better investment than the Barron's 501. Enjoy!

Is communication becaming intransitive?

The informational system is on the threshold of a deep transformation and in an increasing crisis of reliability. Two parameters regulate information -as a commodity, a good for the market- withing an unified system of communication: 1) mimesis of the media which repeat the same items giving a weak veracity to information; 2) hyper-emotion, which appeals to the pathos by means of the spectacularization of the event and makes you to believe you have understood becasuse you have seen quickly. There is a remarkable contrast between the simplification of the communicative system and the complexity of our world. How to understand the last one? Ramonet tries to do it through the change of two paradigms: 1) Progress has been replaced by Communication as the main factor of social cohesioin but it's enoug you to be commujicating and you don't need communicate anything; 2) Functionalism (society as a machine) has been replaced by Market. Ramonet studies two contemporary ways of censorship: 1) retention of some informations; 2) superabundance due to the mimesis of the media. From my reading of this book by Ramonet, the main question is the following one: Is communication becoming intransitive?

ALL HOMES SHOULD HAVE IT

Cell Salts are a necessity in our house and this book is the perfect reference for using them. We have used them with our two boys since birth and at 3 yr old now, our oldest has yet to go to the doctor for and illness and we have never needed antibiotics or steroids of any sorts, and the same goes with our younger who is only 1. but still. There are cell salts for all ailments and its all natural so i never have to worry about loading my kids with drugs Being that I work in a pharmacy I know about all the options but still choose the homeopathic methods .
