About the Author
Originally from Saskatchewan, Dorothy Black is a graduate of the University of British Columbia. She moved to Baie Verte on the island of Newfoundland from 1965-1980, where she painted wildflowers in watercolour. She now pursues her art in eastern Ontario. Peter J. Scott is curator of the Agnes Marion Ayre Herbarium, and a biology professor at Memorial University in Newfoundland.

Good art.

Haphazard arrangement of illustrations with no regard to taxonomy. No mention of life cycles such as blooming time. Dorothy Black's paintings are very good, but I found the book difficult to use in the field, since I had to thumb through it each time I wanted to find and identify a particular plant.
